Applet Layout Templates

Large Applet Layout

The Large Applet Layout consumes most of the browser document area.

Medium Applet Layout

The medium applet layout is sized to a portion of the HTML page.

"Search by Field" Applet Layout

The FieldedSearchApplet can be used for search by one or more index fields.

Button Applet Layout

The Button Applet Layout provides a command button for accessing the QuestAgent search applet. This layout can be used with both FieldedSearchApplet and standard SearchApplet.

When clicked, the button produces a separate Search window.

Notice that you can apply an image to the launch button using "geom.launch_button.image" parameter.

When you click Search…, a new Search window appears.

HTML/JavaScript Layout

The JavaScript layout allows you to customize the features of the search applet, to use multiple frames, and to programmatically (through JavaScript) handle queries and display results.

The JavaScript implementation allows you to programmatically perform searches across one or more document collections and to tailor the results to the HTML page.

Using JavaScript and HTML you can design your own form controls that perform the same function as the standard applet components.

HTML Interface with Word Highlighting

HTML Interface with Word Highlighting allows you create your own search forms in HTML providing complete control of page content. Most important, this QuestAgent layout template can highlight (emphasize) keywords in found documents.

Important: Always deploy HTML Interface to your document root (don't use suggested jobjects subdirectory). Otherwise, your documents will not be accessible to the QuestAgent applet.

For details see "HTML Interface with Word Highlighting Customization."
