RFGraph Ver 1.2

RFGraph 1.2 is now done, if you have a registed version of 1.1 the licence
password is unchanged, so you don't have to retype a password.  You can even
have 1.1 and 1.2 installed at the same time, although 1.2 files can not be
read by 1,1.  Version 1.2 will automatically read files from 1.0 and 1.1,
but will save in 1.2 format.

Here is a list of the new features in 1.2:
1 Added an UNDO function!!!
2 Added a step(x) fn to custom fitting fns recognized (y=0 if x <0 y=1 x >= 0)
3 Added convolution and Deconvolution routines
4 Added hide all fits
5 Added delete all fits
6 Added integrate/differentiate dataset
7 Added a properties dialog that gives point spacing, min/max of the dataset
8 Added a control to turn off axis abbreviations (ie the K-for kilo on the axis
  numbers etc)
9 Added an option to overlap scaling the xaxis as well as the yaxis

10 Improved the delete points performance dramatically for large numbers of
    points.

Here is a list of the new features in 1.1:
Bug Fixes:

1 Tab separated text files now load correctly.
2 On Some systems RFGraph 1.0 would alawys crash because a size 0x0 window 
  led to a division by zero.
3 Fixed a bug in loading fsdata files that had a 0 multiplier, not that
  there is anyone beyond my research group that uses this file type...
4 Fixed some bugs with functions that copied data sets, such as combine sets.
5 Fixed some bugs with cut/paste that caused crashes and garbeled output.
6 Fits convoled with a data set didn't re-load properly.
7 Fixed autoscale to work with log plots.
8 Files larger then 32,000 points wouldn't load properly due to 16bit
  int limit!
9 Copying parameter of a fit would occasionally have garbage tacked
on the end of the text.
10 Pasting an empty buffer no longer causes a crash.
11 Removed a few memory leaks.
12 Fixed a bug with copying datasets to the clipboard.

New Features:
The first think that you will notice is that the shareware version
brings up a dialog box with a name and password.  So now you can register
without having to download a new version, and you can get the newest
SW version and have it automatically be registered.   For registered
users of 1.0 send me email and I will send you a password to register
1.1 Free.


A Fast Fourier Transform - works well, but requires even point spacing
also beware zero padding- best if used with a dataset that is an even
power of two (ie 512 points).

Alt-L brings up the last fit- a very handy short cut if you have a
lot of fits and/or datasets.

number keys 1-0 toggle selection of the 1st ten datasets,
ctrl-1-0 toggles selection of the 2nd ten datasets- very useful shortcut!

Inverse/reverse to flip X or Y axis of a dataset.

Create Dataset from fit now brings up a requestor for bounds.

CopyDataSet- You can make a copy of a dataset.

Edit Comments- You can now put comments about the dataset in the file,
When loading a text file any lines styarting with % are copied into the
comment field.


Connection Lines- You can now toggel the connecting lines off to produce a
scatter plot.

Smoothing- Added Moving window & Savitzky-Golay as well as the number of 
points to smooth upon.

Standard Deviation- Added a calculation of the standard deviation

Fitting- Added Levenberg-Marquardt as a fitting method- has much faster 
convergence than gridless but tends to be less robust. It can get trapped 
in local minima more readily. Also doesn't do well with custom fns because 
the method depends on having all of the partial derivatives. Also add
a power law decay.

Polar plots


Ver 1.1 also save more information about the display flags- for example 
if point markers, error bars, residuals, fit equations were shown.



Introduction

RFGraph is a scientific analysis and graphing program for
windows95. Some of the functions it includes are nonlinear curve
fitting, smoothing, integration, autocorrelation, logarithmic as well
as linear axes etc.  For an introduction of how to use RFGraph you
should read the gettting started section in the helpfile- this example
will take you through the process of taking raw data to finished graph.



RFgraph comes as a zip file with the following files:

To install Rfgraph

Create a directory for the above files. (i.e. C:\rfgraph)

Copy all of the files to the drive and directory that you want to
have rfgraph installed on. 

Now create a shortcut on the desktop:
Right click on an empty area of the desktop, select the new->shortcut.
Click on Browse and find the directory copies the files to in part #1
Click on the rfgraph icon and hit Open.  Double check that the path
is correct then hit next, then hit next again to accept the name of
the shortcut to be rfgraph, and then click on finish.  That's it it's
ready to run!
